Bathroom flooring tiles are one of the most common options homeowners use in their bathrooms when considering flooring. While you can install them yourself, you do need to be fairly careful and plan ahead.
Probably your first decision will be the type, size and color of tiles that you will use. Once you have decided this then you can go ahead and easily plan the installation process. A good point to note, if you are fairly new at doing this type of thing is that the larger and simpler the tiles are the easier it will be to place them. For example, you may want to stay away from fairly complex designs as they are a little trickier to put together.
There are a few things to keep in mind regarding the style of the flooring. Generally speaking, it should be fairly simple and unobtrusive — not something that clashes with the other decorative items in your bathroom. Unless your floor is going to be the focal point of your bathroom, which is unlikely, you should choose something that enhances the rest of your bathroom décor rather than detracts from it.
The texture of the tiles is also an important consideration. Tiles vary greatly as far as they texture. You can purchase stone tiles, ceramic tiles, marble and granite tiling. Fortunately you do not have to spend a lot of money on tiles to come up with a different texture as these days many ceramic tiles have varied surfaces.
The advantage with using stone tiles is that they will last a long time and will not need to be replaced. On the downside, they are a little bit more difficult to install which could be a consideration if you are planning on doing it yourself. Granit and marble tiles are usually quite expensive.
If you opt for vinyl tiles instead, make sure that they are suitable for bathroom use. You may find you need to purchase the more expensive type if they are to go in the bathroom. In summary, look for something that is easy to install and take care of and something that was is within your price range.
